My Mons garment has some small holes, how do I mend these?Updated a year ago

Merino wool is a material comprised of fine and delicate fibres. Small holes can occur in the fabric over time and are usually caused by coming in contact with hard objects, such as zippers, buckles or the hard ends of drawstrings in the washing machine.

To repair these holes we recommend checking in with your local tailor or seamstress. The holes can usually be sewn up quickly and easily, which is cost-effective, and the repairs are usually practically invisible. Repairing garments helps us respect resources instead of wasting them.

We recommend washing your garments following these rules to ensure longevity and minimise the chance of holes:

  • Garments inside out
  • All zippers are done up and any loose drawstrings are tied tight
  • Placed inside a washing net
  • Cold wash or 30°C on a delicate cycle
  • Use a neutral washing detergent that does not contain the enzyme "protease".
